Each handmade recycled item was birthed from a deep-rooted sentimental place, with a responsibility to revolutionize the fashion industry in a way that is necessary in modern times.
The creator: Dr Karen Dennis AKA Karen Ketchup has balanced her life’s work with research to enable the merge of eras - to disable errors.
Currently, the global mindset is shifting swiftly over to a refreshing way of thinking ...
~ about how we can repair, reuse, regrow our love to reverse the destruction we have already caused the future of our planet.
~ not just to revive old unused fabrics, but to burst with a sense of WOW.
What are we doing to ourselves?
How careless is it to throw away the things we once loved and why do we find it so easy to dispose of belongings that still have so much life left in them ?
Let’s admit, we are all guilty of this
KETCHUP SAYS: “NO!”
WE SAY: “ENOUGH!”
Why should we remain stuck in a world of:
“Out with the old & in with the new”?
KETCHUP SAYS IN WITH THE OLD . . .
AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN
WHY NOT?
Why can’t we change the ways in which we approach every aspect of our lives so as to do right by the future of our entire existence?
Once Loved/Preloved
BECOMES
♡ Always Loved ♡
SAVE THE PLANET & YOUR WARDROBE
The time has come to accept that methods are outdated and adaptations are essential to a new world order. Stand up for what you believe in, stand up for your rights, for yourselves, for your future.
Do it in a way that cannot be ignored.
Scream colour, explode excitement, screw the system and unite with pride. Let the clothes you wear everyday express that frustration by denying the average 9 - 5 lie we have been sucked into by the matrix. Be yourself. Be loud.
Your fave outfits are trapped, lifeless, and sad - stuck!
~ in the back of the wardrobe from years ago...
They’re screaming:
“Please don’t chuck us out! We have gone through too much!
Together, we have well decent memories of rocking shit!”
Feel too old for your preloved garms? NAH!
Perhaps you changed your job , had children, added or lost an extra bit of weight ? You still love elements of what's in wardrobe but the clothes are no just no longer you. Maybe you just feel like you are ready for a different style?
Don’t like waste? NO PROBLEM!
Ketchup will take it off your hands and magic it into something new that you'll never want to throw away.
Stand out / alone / divided statement attire - in your face, loud. Bursting with creativity, each individual piece has its own attitude
“Hey, I love that Jacket!” You smile, knowing it is one-of-a-kind. Never will you see another one like it
.
BE BOLD.
IT ME. IT MINE.
Revitalized, recreated with a mission to make things that actually matter MATTER . . . again. Changing the world by changing the way we think about fashion:
Well-made handmade everyday practical gender-neutral attire.
The perceived useless and lifeless are given the opportunity to evolve into revived items that serve a purpose and can be loved forever.
Fashion Disaster
All too often, we are mindless. “ The United Kingdom produces 206.456 tonnes of textile waste in a year. Out of the 3.1kg of textile waste each Briton produces every year, only 0.3kg are recycled and 0.4 kg are reused. However, 0.8kg is incinerated yearly per person and 1.7kg are disposed of in landfills.” https://www.circularonline.co.uk/news/uk-named-fourth-largest-textile-waste-producer-in-europe/#:~:text=The%20United%20Kingdom%20produces%20206.456,are%20disposed%20of%20in%20landfills. https://www.wrap.org.uk/content/textiles-overview What does this say about us and our frivolous behaviour.
It is certainly time for change.
Although, its seeds were sown very much earlier on. The brand grew out of frustration with a world that appeared intent on throwing away rather than repairing of consuming rather than making. Ketchup is hoping to flourish in an age that is looking for change as well as new ways of making and having.
Ketchup is all about experimenting with discarded materials and those from donations and second hand avenues. It's about turning mundane products that are so easily thrown away, the stained t-shirts, the frayed jeans, the linen, into new, functional and original products. Hopefully pieces that won't be so easily discarded in their next life.
Ketchup is based in Leeds 6, Yorkshire, UK and many of the resources that have gone into making the clothes that you see on this site have come from the THE BINS, THE SKIPS, literally from the street. Its not been a glamorous job but a necessary one.
ZERO WASTE ............in a NUTSHELLL
