These masks have been made to accommodate a piece of non-woven material (Supplied) to act as a filter, for which I have used a general cleaning cloth. Filters can be washed with the mask however, will need changing. Ironing the mask and filter between uses is recommended. Alternative filter material (tissue papers, dried wet wipes, piece of hoover bag etc) may be used however, care must be taken to ensure not to restrict or compromise breathing. Those with breathing conditions should seek medical advice before use.
The masks are £10 each with discounts for bulk orders. For every mask sold another will be donated to a charitable organisation such as community groups, care homes etc. Please contact karen@ketchupclothes.com with your requirements, quoting the relevant identifying number for your chosen masks. If you are a charitable organisation and require a donation of coverings please get in touch.
Research into the benefits of handmade cotton masks is in debate over their use in the general population. Whilst obviously not as effective as medical grade PPE, my research indicates that these face masks offer good inward and outward protection against air borne droplets, especially when used in conjunction with other measures like handwashing and social distancing. They offer the user additional protection in spatially restrictive social environments. For general wear they should slip comfortably behind the ear, made as ‘one size’ however, for any issues with comfort or sizing, please contact us to adjust or replace where possible.

Ketchup Clothes have historically made garments from recycled materials and director Dr Karen Dennis, has spent many years working with small-scale textiles producers throughout the world. These masks are a combination of these materials, including a recycled jersey ear strap and limited addition ‘global’ textiles and recycled cotton cloth.
